We spend a lot of time in customer homes and helping stores and nothing is as frustrating as having the connector barrel become disconnected when trying to remove a long-seated connector. So, our designers designed these reverse-twist threads so that when you twist the connector to remove it from the AVR, the barrel becomes tighter. Simple?
